how to password protect an iphotos album

is there any way to password protect an album in photos (7.0) on a macbook pro 2020 M1 (12.3.1)? the most recent post on this is five years old. i hope mac has come up with something useful since then. thank you.

i guess i was too optimistic in thinking apple would have provided something so useful as password protection for photo albums. is it me or has apple become focussed on form over function? if there is a good reason not to provide a password option, i'd be glad to hear it. btw, thank you Yer_Man for your suggestion.

I doubt Apple ever will provide such a thing. Believe it or not, it's not something mentioned much on here in the (far too many) years I've been here. As you say the last mention you find is 5 years ago. Also, the fact is that I simply cannot think of any of the major operators in the Photo Manager space - Adobe, On1, CaptureOne, Mylio et al - that offer such a feature.


Privacy on your Mac is primarily provided by operating your user account to which only you have access. That’s basically how Apple would see it.
