GPU showing incredibly high temperatures

So basically using iStat Menus on my Mac it shows the GPU as having temperatures random from 1500 degrees Celsius to 66000 degrees Celsius, but basically in only one GPU. Not sure if this is a software thing or a sensor thing. Using MacBook Pro 2021 and not sure whether to claim warranty over this as im not sure what the problem is. Does anyone have an answer?

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 12.3

If temps were that high, there'd be no doubt something was wrong, the unit would have melted. It can also be a problem with the software's reporting. Honestly, given these results, I doubt the problem is with hardware ... it never would have survived this long if it were.

Maybe try and alternate app in place of iStat Menus.

? unrealistic I would question your third party software...

Are you having an issue?

...if the Mac is in danger of over heating it will power itself off.

compare that directly with what the Mac tells you from the Terminal.app copy and paste:

sudo powermetrics -n 1 --samplers smc | egrep -i "FAN|CPU die|GPU die"

thanks lllaass for the feedback above— the command line seems limited to sample Intel only.

for your M1 you can try the compatible third party software

https://www.imagetasks.com/istatistica/

alternatively from the App Store:

and compare your results.

Fan speed for the M1, M1pro, M1max—

if the system reaches 95 C or the steady system temperature above 60 C fans kick in at 1500 rpm.

You can contact iStat Support they can supply you with a compatible beta for the M1 Soc
