apple tv does not sign in android

Hi.

I have a nvidia shield. ATV is installed on it. Its not sideloaded just appeared one day.

I have broadly ignored it. But something has cropped up we are interested in so I have signed up to apple TV+ at 4.99 as month.

Signed in.

I still cannot play , it just says 'how to watch' but there is no method to actually watch?

If I click how to watch it says I need a subscription, but I have one attached to the login I just used. The app is super confusing because there is an ATV element and an ATV+ element

Whats the deal here, how do I get this to 'just work' like every other streaming service on earth?
