Authentication for access to their content is through the TV provider credentials.

  • Keep your devices and apps up-to-date.
  • Try to sign out an sign in again for that app with the TV provider credentials.
  • Else contact the TV provider about authentication for this separate content provider app.
  • Xfinity is currently not listed to support Single Sign-on.

* In order to access WATCH TCM, you must get TCM at home through either a cable or satellite TV package.

This fix did not work for me. The privacy settings have always been set to allow WatchTCM to access TV provider information, and yet in mid-May -- about the time of the close of the Discovery merger with Warner Media -- I lost the ability to use Watch TCM on my Apple TV. Used to work just fine (if you ignore the annoying need to log-in every week or so). Now when asked to SIGN-IN, it hangs and I need to turn off the TV, and when trying to watch a movie, it merely says "Unsupported Provider".

I am using tvOS version 15.5 (same behavior with 15.1) and WatchTCM version 3.7.6, and my TV provider is Comcast/Xfinity. I have tried every possible combination of power cycling devices. And I uninstalled and reinstalled WatchTCM. What is going on?

Try going into the Settings on the TCM app, and tap System Privacy Settings. This takes you to the System Settings for the TCM app. Slide the TV Provider setting to 'off'. This will return you to the TCM app settings page where you will now need to enter your credentials for your Xfinity account manually. Apparently, the TCM app is no longer allowing iOS to enter them for you automatically.

One more note on the WatchTCM login problems.

When I was finally able to log into the app, I encountered one additional problem. Apparently Xfinity/Comcast thought I was not authorized to watch TCM! Needless to say, I pay extra for the privilege, and later checking my channel lineup with Comcast confirmed my access to TCM. However, in this context, Comcast has no idea about my channel lineup, and immediately after entering the six-alphanumeric authentication code, the following screen shows up...

I merely tapped on the BACK arrow < and my login to WatchTCM was declared successful.

One more reason for TCM to offer a stand-alone subscription to the channel. We are so tired of being overcharged and getting awful service from Comcast for the privilege.

This is absolutely crazy. As mentioned above, my privacy settings have always been set to allow WatchTCM to access TV provider. According to the original "Apple Recommended" by #barbagelott response, this is correct. However, as #LenJC57 suggests, below, WatchTCM no longer allows this. I discovered this when experimenting again yesterday, desperate to watch last week's Noir Alley! But thanks for #LenJC57's post.

On my Apple TV 4k (1st generation, Model A1842), the dialog is a bit different...

Access the "System Privacy Settings" either from the WatchTCM app or from the System Settings menu. If the latter, select "TCM". In response to "Allow TCM to access TV provider" which toggles between "Never" and "Always", select "Never".

Thanks to all on this thread. TCM's help desk has been markedly unhelpful.
