disabled smart quotes but apple notes still modifies quotes

Running 12.3.1

I disabled smart quotes from the OS preferences under keyboard->text

I still see that using apple notes my quotes get modified with newly typed text.

Is there some other option that I need to disable to stop the modification of my quotes?

how to ENABLE spell check in Notes ? I want to enable the option of check spelling while typing in MacOS Notes. This is usually done in: Notes > Edit > Spelling and Grammar > Check spelling while typing. But, i cannot, for some reason this just does not work for Notes (for other applications it does). Does anyone know how to FORCE this setup in Notes via command line (terminal) ? or any other workaround? Thank you for the help u can provide !

Autocorrect won't capitalize words on MacBook Pro Enabling Correct Spelling Automatically or Capitalize words automatically doesn't work. Although I have enabled "Correct Spelling Automatically" and "Capitalize Words Automatically" in the system settings on my Macbook Pro, nevertheless, in the application 'Notes' neither of these functions are working on my Macbook Pro 16 with touchbar (Venutra 13.2). It works on my iPad. It works on my iPhone. It does not work on my Macbook Pro when using Notes. Strangely, it does work when I use Pages on my Macbook Pro. But not when I use Notes. A - Suggest also updating to current 12.4 Monterey released May 16, 2022

Make Time Machine Backup before updating just incase.

In doesn't appear to make a difference if smart quotes are on or off. For both double and single quotes select the last option under Keyboard > Text.
