I wanted to use my old phone to set up a child’s phone. So I went through the steps to create an Apple ID through family share since he is under 13. But each time I try to sign him into his Apple account with the Apple ID in settings to switch the account but his Id isn’t being recognized. Yes, but it will not be the typical way to set up an adult or regular iCloud account. You will need to go into settings in your phone. Click on your name at the top, scroll down and click on family sharing, click on add member, click on create an account for a child.
This set up will allow you to control how much time she spend on her phone, what she downloads, what they purchase until the age of 13. Of course you will get a notification on your phone to approve anything she does. Hope this helps.
