Spinning cursor after installing Monterey

Your iMac 27" 2017 may be having trouble moving data to/from the drive, or there may be another problem.

I recommend that you run an EtreCheck evaluation of your Mac. EtreCheck is a safe and recommended utility from a trusted developer and respected ASC contributor. The diagnostic app gathers important info about your hardware and software and reports it back to you. It is very highly regarded and meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help others help you troubleshoot and resolve your Mac problems. The EtreCheck report will not include any personally identifiable info.

Please navigate to EtreCheck.com and download the free version. Be sure to enable full disk access when you install the app. Once you’ve run the app and created your report please post it with your reply to this message.

We can use the EtreCheck report to look for the things that may be causing your problem and advise how to correct them

In the tool bar of the EtreCheck report is the Share report icon.

Click that, then click Copy report, then return to the Community thread and begin your reply.

At the bottom of your reply window is the icon for "Additional text". Click that and then paste (⌘V) the currently copied EtreCheck report into the text box that pops up.

Once you have you downloaded the app and installed it, please run the report and save it. Sorry, Long day!

Your Hard Disk appears to be failing. I would recommend buying an external SSD and cloning the Fusion Drive to the SSD using a bootable clone such as SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner. Before you do this make sure you have a Time Machine backup of or a clone of the drive already. The external SSD I'd suggest for max performance is: https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/owc-envoy-pro-fx however if you are on a budget then I'd suggest the:

OWC Mercury On The Go Pro & the OWC On the Pro Go Power Adapter. Not a quick but it will be about the same as your Fusion drive.

I am not sure who sent the report to, however you are supposed to post it on this forum per the directions provided.
