Getting notifications from my most important family members

Why am I not getting notifications from the top 3 people in my messages. iPhone gave me a new way to easily get to my favorites, but I don't get ANY notifications. And one is my wife, which is very disturbing.

Tap on a person's name at the top of a conversation with them and check that Hide Alerts is not selected. Weirdly I noticed one of my daughter's alerts weren't coming through the other day for precisely this reason. Not a setting I ever recall deliberately visiting.

Hello ckravetz13,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. Since it sounds like this only happens with select contacts, it is likely due to a setting. First, if you use Focus, make sure that these contacts are allowed. Check out Use Focus on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support for assistance.

If you use a different ringtone or text tone for these contacts, see if changing it gives you a different result. Use guidance in Change message notifications on iPhone - Apple Support if needed. That article can also help if those conversations have accidentally been muted. We hope that helps.

Take care.
