Does anyone know how to stop this stupid tech from darkening the screen to almost black in bright sunlight?

Hello Orgyte,

You can manage the device brightness settings by completing the steps listed here: Adjust the brightness and color temperature on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

You can turn auto-brightness on or off in Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size. To reset the auto-brightness settings, turn off auto-brightness and then turn it back on.

Take care

Hey Orgyte,

The auto-brightness features is what your iOS device uses to adjust brightness levels based on the light conditions around you. The sensor lowers brightness in dark locations and raises brightness in light locations. If turning this feature off in Settings doesn’t actually turn it off, start by ensuring iOS is up to date and restarting. You can read how to do this in the following links:

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Restart your iPhone

Test toggling the feature on and back off once more after that and see if the issue is resolved.

Regards.

Thanks and i don’t

mean to rude, but that’s same old response and one that never works. Mine does the opposite and always has since as many iphones as i care to remember. I’m not a novice. I always have auto brightness turned off. I’m not sure whether it brightens in the dark but in the sun its like it puts on its own pair of sunglasses and goes almost black, completely useless. Why would this even be a function, who could possibly want it.
