Set Outlook as default email reader, but it is not workable in Mac OS Monterey

Hello everyone!

I have followed the steps (Mail>Preferences>General>Default email reader>Microsoft Outlook) to make Outlook as default email reader in Mac, but it's unworkable. Although I have tried many times by re-starting Mac OS, update Microsoft Outlook to latest version...but the issue still persists. When I open an email, it still use Mail instead of Outlook. Has anyone experienced the same with me? Could someone help me this?

Currently I use MacOs Monterey, Outlook version 16.61.

When you say you open an email, are you opening Outlook and letting it get mail from your providerʻs server?

Or are you double-clicking on a saved email somewhere? If youʻre doing this, you should click once on the saved email, hit Command-I to Get Info, then in the middle of that screen should be "Open with:" and change the app from Mail to Outlook.

Then click the "Change All" button below that.
