How to reset the SMC of your Mac Understand this will only work on Intel Based Computers. If this is an Apple Silicon computer the shutdown and restart basically performs the same action.
Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac
Last Resort - needing Evaluation or replacement.
If the SMC/NVRAM fun does not work, then your power supply is likely the problem. A mains connected MacBook Pro should power up and operate normally, even with a dead battery. Consider taking it to an Apple Store (by appointment), or Apple Authorized Service Provider for a diagnostic and repair estimate.
