Kept receiving "A password reset request was sent from a device at the location shown below'

My iPhone 13 got stolen, and as expected, the thieves are phishing for my Apple ID credentials. I have safeguarded my account (changed password, activated 2FA) and do not click links from weird SMS messages. But now, I am receiving reset password notifications in my MacBook Pro:

I clicked it but I am not proceeding to reset my password because I think that is what the thief is expecting me to do. From Reddit, they said this is a legitimate push notification when they are trying to reset password via iforgot.apple.com.

The only problem is why is it not showing a location? It would be nice if they have the location where the reset password is being requested. That way I can report it to the Police, and *hope* that my device will be returned.

I started receiving this SMS today. My opinion, and it is only my opinion, if it was from Apple it would be sent via iMessage not SMS. My devices have never been out of my possession.

I'm receiving this same message as of today (July 12, 2022) -- has happened 5 times today alone. All devices in my possession. Did reset my password and received another one within an hour.

I am getting the same request on my new MacBook Pro almost every 10 minutes. It does not appear on any of my otters apple devices only this MacBook pro

I've waited to report that the password reset requests notices stopped just a day after I first posted (7/13). I wanted to make sure they had, indeed, stopped. I did not change my apple id.

Same happening here! Aug 2, 2022. All devices within my possession, I did not request a password reset, and continually popping up with no location on my MacBook!

I'm getting the same notifications on my iMac running MacOS 12.4. Not being able to see the location of the request is really irritating.

I too have been having this problem, same as others, starting on 14 Aug 2022. No stolen devices.

Yes! Changed the Apple ID password on iMac two days ago and since then this pop-up comes up every few minutes/on waking/logging in etc. Very frustrating!!

Just to add myself to those who were concerned, only to discover that this should be a bug, since it happens only on the mac book pro. Not on ios anyway.

Weird that noone from apple knows this.
