iTunes 12.12.4 & Windows 11 Permissions Problem

A few weeks ago I downloaded iTunes 12.12.4 on my Windows 11 machine. That's when I started getting a recurring problem: while I was modifying anything in iTunes, the program would suddenly crash, and when I'd try to open it, I'd get a Windows error message: "You have been denied permission to access this folder," followed by a folder name too wide to fit on the screen but that started with Program Files/WindowsApps. Somehow I had lost permissions in a series of folders.

I spent a few hours tracking down a solution, and finally got it to work -- but then, after a few hours of twiddling with iTunes entries, it happened again. And again. And again. And since I'm never entirely sure what I'm doing to restore the permissions (I used to be a tech-support person, but that was many years ago, so I'm a babe in the woods now), I get to spend another hour or so each time before I can start the program again.

Any idea why this is happening? As I say, it happened just hours after I upgraded to the latest iTunes, and it's not a one-time thing.

Thanks -- tried that already, with no luck. (Tried it and the Windows permissions problem wasn't solved; got the Windows permissions problem solved separately and tried reinstalling again -- it keeps happening.)

I was going to try installing a previous version, but was kinda hoping a bug fix would solve my problem before it came to that.

And yes, I have my (ridiculously large) music library backed up six ways to Sunday.
