Photos media in web browser is missing some photos

Photos media in web browser open dialogue boxes only shows select photos but does not show the full library. This occurred in both Safari and Brave browsers. Below is a screenshot from Safari. Why are only certain photos displaying in the web browser open window?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 12.3

Hi

Are you using iCloud with "optimise mac storage"? If so then only photos currently downloaded to your mac are visible. Photos "optimised" and stored only in iCloud are not available for the dialog.

If this is the case then the best solution is to first export the images to a folder, and attach to the website from the folder.

"Download originals to this Mac" is the much better option anyway. If the photos have not been downloaded to the Mac, your regular Time Machine backup or a copy of the library will be incomplete and it is very hard to make a complete backup of your library. You cannot rely on iCloud as a backup, as it is only saving the current state and does not provide a history like Time Machine, so you cannot revert to a previous version of your library, if you accidentally mess it up.
