How to get “Reply” as an option when I select a text message

If I get a messsge I can reply to it but if I want to try to an earlier message from that sender I cannot do so.

When I press and hold any text message that is not the last one received from that sender, I get options to Copy or “more”. When I press “more” I get only the option to forward the message or Trash it.

From the responses to similar questions it seems like I am supposed to have the option to reply to any message. How do I get this?

Please check if that is an SMS. The "Reply" option is available only for iMessages.
