Why does my phone so sometimes this call has been verified by the carrier

Does calls with a checkmark are verified with the carrier happen with every carrier? Why does Verizon do this? Does Verizon always do this? I am using an iPhone and I noticed some thing I don’t quite understand. So I’ll see if I can get any advice from the community. this question I have is about a message I have with my iPhone incoming calls only, that days “calls with a checkmark are verified with the carrier.” I figured out this is a Verizon thing . My carrier is not Verizon. This contact that this message shows on, does have Verizon as a carrier. But does Verizon only do this? Does Verizon always do this? When do they do this? And why do they do this? What does it mean to me?

Message to callers When someone calls me and I don't answer, they receive a message that states the following: "You're not allowed to make dialed carrier calls."
