Am I stuck with a too-sensitive trackpad?

MacBook Air (M1, 2020): I love the machine, but I have already adjusted settings as much as I'm able and it's still too sensitive. If I don't take my fingers completely away from the trackpad as I use it, I often find new windows opening, dialog boxes popping up, ads getting clicked on, etc.

Yes, I have gone into trackpard preferences several times and adjusted everything I can find that ought to help and it doesn't.

Is it a mechanical problem that will need repair? Is there a plug-in that could help? It's a real nuisance!

My experience was just like yours. The fix was to get through the learning curve and adjust my hand position.

As to the pad's sensitivity, beyond what's provided for in the preferences, it is what it is. But if you feel it's malfunctioning, get it to Apple for evaluation.
