HELP!!! Nvidia driver will not load, Mac Pro 5,1

Why won't my Nvidia Driver load!!!???? My monitors started lagging and blinking...then I noticed the Nvidia icon was no longer in the menu bar. Tried selecting it in preferences and it now won't allow it. Tried reinstalling my the latest Nvidia Driver and I'm instrucked to trash the file!!! Machine worked fine until I booted up yesterday. It's so bad that browsers act sluggish, windows leave ghost trails or disappear.

PLEASE HELP!!!! I USE THIS MACHINE FOR WORK!!!

Thanks in advance

Apple did NOT renew Nivdia's softwares trust certificate license which expired June 2nd 2022..

I am not in politics. But thousands of users Nvidia GPU cards in Hollywood all quit on June 2nd. Their NVIDIA control panel NVIDIA card prefs software doe not load either! Rendering there $$$$ cards useless. You will have these following issues:

  1. NVIDIA control panel drivers no longer work.
  2. NVIDIA Installers no longer work for CUDA, drivers to run video cards etc..
  3. NVIDIA WebDrivers all blocked and will not install or work ( error "Move to Trash")

This is because the trust certificate of Nvidia's software drivers was NOT renewed by Apple. They are in some kind of silly dispute.

Its always sad when users get what ever went over the fence last in these issues. Regardless of what big companies do. Thus we must adapt and overcome. Life must go on!

There is a fix if you google it. Try Mac Rumors, there is a really long post there. Requires some SUDO Terminal jujitsu! But it works.

Me...I bought a AMD card because the issue caused my computer to be unusable in certain software i use for my Film Scoring in Hollywood and TV shows. And weird colors, flickering unusable desktop. It was a simple but costly resolution avoiding messing with stuff. I did reach out to NVIDIA who sent a message directing me to Apple. Thus we are on our own for the fix.

Its really disappointing and horrible, when Apple users get punished for something users had nothing to do with.

It's common practice in business to always protect your valued users. I am sure it will get resolved at some time. Until then....

SOLUTIONS

  1. Google and find how to fix it with Terminal and scripts, (Mac Rumors forums)
  2. Un-plug computer from internet, change date on computer back a year, restore before June 1st using Apple Time Machine. DO NOT PLUG BACK INTO INTERNET! . Not really a solution but it works
  3. Purchase a non-NVIDIA video card and replace current NVIDIA PCIe card
  4. Wait and see if companies can resolve the disputed issues and renew trust certificates
  5. Be frustrated, angry, say some bad words.. do nothing go for a walk!

Its not a virus, or update issue, again it is a TRUST CERTIFICATE not renewed. Thus all installers, software etc using that certificate is blocked by Apple OS. As it should be. Its just a bad outcome. There are solutions, users must just choose to move forward.

Kind Regards

HI MadDog15,

Sometimes when uninstalling and reinstalling drivers or a program, it may take more steps than just trashing it and reinstalling it. You can try to see if this will work in safe mode How to use safe mode on your Mac. However, ultimately you may need to reach out to Nvidia Customer Support or search the Nvidia Forums for assistance in fully uninstalling it so you can reinstall it properly.

Best regards.

I sure hope it brings some closure to the issue.

Its such a tragedy when we have no answers!

One would think big companies would warn its client base as a curtesy. In my day people were fired for being so un professional over things like this. But my day seems to be yesterday! Like when my beloved NVIDIA gpu card worked.

Incidents like this reminds me why we need competition in business. Steve Jobs was such a wonderful businessman and always valued his customers. He loved his inventions and was in touch with his clients and the flow of things he was a common simple man. Apple is an amazing company. Just never give up! there is always a solution. Today with internet you can find it too. Just dig deep. Rephrase your searches. There are millions of us customers who own allot of Apple computers and products. Forums like this make it possible to find quick answers. I will make an effort to post answers more often.

I sure hope you have a great day and some solace in the answers. No need to worry. Built-in driver will work until issues are resolved. BUT if your work requires your GPU part of your Nvidia card then you will need to find solution in above post.

Kend Regards
