How do I connect my ipad mini (6th gen) to my PC to back it up with this new ridiculous cord - it has neither a lightning connect or a usb connect? Bought it today, and if can't connnect it, returning it tomorrow.

Bought a new ipad mini (6th gen) today to replace my old one (cracked screen & outdated).

I use a PC and went to connect the ipad and the cord appears to be useless. I has neither a lightning or USB end. And the ipad itself wont take a lightning cord anymore. (It was bad enough that I had to buy the plug for my iphone 13 because of the new cord (why sell a phone to people that can't be charged!)

This is worse! There are more important things that charging fast - useless if the device is useless. Huge mistake Apple. Regardless, Is there an way to connect it with my PC? or am I returning it tomorrow?

Your new iPad has a USB-C connector - and is supplied with both a USB-C Power Adapter and USB-C to USB-C cable.

The Lightning port has been superseded by the much more useful USB-C port, offering considerably more flexibility and connectivity.

If you need to connect your iPad to a PC or Mac that have the much older USB Type-A ports, you simply require a USB Type-A to USB-C cable. These are readily available from good computer stores - and Apple.

Here is just one example of a certified cable manufactured by Mophie - and marketed by Apple:

  • mophie USB-A Cable with USB-C Connector (1 m)
