Decryption time
Not able to reinstall OS on iMac because of ongoing hard drive decryption which has been in process for over 24 hours. Can it take that long and will automatic sleep mode slow down this process?

It can take days or even a week depending on the size of the drive and the health of the drive. You can try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected, but the diagnostics don't detect many types of failures. Running DriveDx will identify the majority drive failures. Post the complete DriveDx text report here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper. If your iMac has a Fusion Drive, then make sure to post the report for both the SSD & hard drive.
