I have tried every recommendation I could find numerous times. I still cannot get my ethernet to go back to my primary connection on my mac running Monterey. I recently changed to Orbi and can only connect my mac via Wi-Fi. I prefer to use ethernet.

I don't know what Orbi is (is this your internet provider?) and what router you are connecting your mac to.
Many routers have a "WAN" port and some "LAN" ports.
Make sure that your mac is connected to one of the LAN ports.
Also: make sure that Ethernet is to topmost in the list in System Preferences->Network.

As you say, this would be down to how the Mac is connected to the router or one of the Orbi stations and if said Orbi station offers a downstream ethernet port and wether the Orbi station is configured to provide ethernet network.
I would suggest Scarlet consult the Orbi user guide and support websites for help with them and how to properly set them them up for Ethernet.
Thank you for replying. orbi is a wifi 6 triband mesh router. It has a base with 3 outgoing ethernet ports as well as wifi. I will make sure to use Lan and I do have on top of list tyvm.
