Why do I have to keep my iPhone on iHeart radio to hear the music?

Why do I have to keep my iPhone 12 Pro Max on iHeart radio to hear the music ? If I go to do anything else on my phone or it simply goes to sleep the music turns off. That isn’t any good , I go back to the iHeart radio app and it starts playing again.
