HP scanner suddenly won't work

The scanner on my HP 3830 all in one suddenly can't communicate with my iMac (running Monterey, but the printing and copying functions are working well. Is this a compatibility problem or something else.?

If your all-in-one unit is a HP OfficeJet 3830 All-In-One Printer then it's AirPrint compatible according to this Apple document: About AirPrint - Apple Support and no driver is necessary.

Therefore go to the System/Printers & Scanners preference pane and remove the unit. Then add it back with the AirPrint option.

See if that will let you scan.

You can also try scanning with Image Capture or Preview.

If all else fails download and try the free version of VueScan . If that works you can purchase it and use it. I use it as I believe it to be much better than the software that came with my scanners.
