iCloud Syncing and Mac Book Pro

I set up a new Mac book, but it made me sign into iCloud, and now it has all the same data from my old laptop. I wanted these devices to be separate, but the second I logged into my Apple ID, everything from my laptop's desktop appeared on my iMac. How do I fix this without deleting everything from both devices?
