How can I turn off digital signatures in Apple Mail

I used a digital signature that I believe was from Adobe to sign a contract and mail using Apple Mail to send it to the client. Mail insisted that I needed to use Apple Keychain to authorize sending it. Now I am stuck with Apple Mail sending digital signatures on all of my mail outgoing from that account. It's causing problems because attachments are blocked on some mailing lists. I tried to turn it off for individual mails, but it was still sent. How do I get rid of this? Could it be malware?
