how to delete files in recovery mode to free space.

no space on iphone so phone keeps going into loop, can get to DTU mode try connect to itunes or similar, ie imazing, then when you download the new ios file it cannot update as no free space is on the phone... get error codes.

cannot restore or update as no space, no backup so need to get to home screen so i can remove files\apps or some pics is there anyway to do this?

Basically need a way to browse or access files to delete so I can have enough space on the iphone to try re-install IOS current space is less than 300Mb on a 128GB iphone 12 mini

Troubleshooting Clearing of Space:

A. Try Clearing "Other":

Clear the storage named "Other". It basically contains unnecessary files such as caches that are used for system ease of use - all of which gather over time: How to Clear "Other" in your iPhone's Storage - Use Backup - User Tip. Caches would be being used for remembrance of application use.

B. Being Stuck in a Boot Loop:

Your iPhone is stuck in a boot loop. And this typically happens when you unsuccessfully download some thing or an install stalls.  So, refer to my User Tip: How to Fix an iPhone in a Boot Loop - User Tip

Thanks the littles…

useful information however as i mentioned How can I update when i have no space and continuously in a boot loop, also if i cannot get to the home screen I cannot take a backup? So i cant remove the ‘others’ folder?

am I missing something here or maybe not explaining well enough..

literally the phone has practically zero space, cant backup, cant update IOS, cant use third party app with IOS downloaded file to try update. Any more suggestions otherwise will have to wipe the phone and pray we still have some of the pics in google photos.

why did i try and reboot the phone!

apple should have an option to remove other or temp files so you can update at least, or even block off a portion of the phone memory so no app can write to it. Especially in these circumstances.

Try the following, reporting back if it works…

Update Using a Computer:

Use my User Tip:  Update your iPhone Using a Computer - User Tip

Back Up First:

IMPORTANT: If you have an option to update, however, then be certain you backup your iPhone first. That way, you will have something to restore your iPhone from should anything go wrong with the update

Thanks the littles,

Not sure how I can backup with either PC or mac when I'm in a continuous loop i have only the apple logo or the restore usb option.

itunes will not see or cannot trust the device if I am stuck on the apple logo.

looks like a restore to factory. what i was trying to avoid. never mind our fault for not backing up i guess.
