Spotify Apple Watch 7 GPS vs. Cellular

I am planning to purchase an Apple Watch Series 7 but need some sage advice from you Apple experts in this forum please!

I am torn between the GPS vs. GPS + Cellular versions, the main reason being I want to listen to Spotify playlists whilst out running and connected to bluetooth headphones. Do I need the GPS + Cellular version to do this?

From what I have read on this helpful forum, it is possible to download playlists to Apple Watch and listen offline. But I have also read that you need an Cellular or WiFi connection.

Any advice/help/guidance is warmly welcome!

Thank you for your helpful replies and links. I finally found another article that confirms you can download Spotify playlists and listen offline (no WiFi, Cellular or iPhone connection) with a WiFi-only Apple Watch.

Article here: https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-download-spotify-music-apple-watch/

Final paragraph:

"Being able to listen to Spotify Music on our WiFi-only Apple Watches is such an underrated feature. Gone are the days of needing to carry a phone around when going out for a run. It’s worth noting, though, that Spotify doesn’t support downloading the Liked Songs playlist — for whichever reason. It’s kind of baffling because this playlist is semi-auto-generated and just needs users to like their favorite tunes, making it very easy to create a loop of your favorite tracks without a second thought. If you do want to download your liked songs on Spotify, you will need to create your own playlist, add songs that you like to it, then follow the steps listed above to download it."

Hi, I had almost the same question for about a year ago but for the series 6 and I am happy for that I selected the cellular + GPS.

Now to your question, I have read that you need the cellular version of the watch to download music to listen offline to your watch, I self have had some issues with my Spotify and downloading of songs to my watch.

You can read more off it on this side: https://support.spotify.com/us/article/spotify-on-apple-watch/

And if that didn't help you can also read this article: https://www.gearpatrol.com/tech/audio/a34587809/spotify-apple-watch-offline-listening-guide/
