Files App Keep Crashing on M1 iPad Pro

So it's been a week since I first got my M1 iPad Pro. I have some PDF files I moved from my iPhone via AirDrop to my iPad but while I'm using Mark Up with my Apple Pencil to note something in the file it keep on crashing. How come a powerful processor like M1 Silicon cannot take simple drawings on a PDF file (Mark Up). Or it's because of the software. Please help and thanks in advance.

Hello Xlr8_tion,

You could isolate this further by testing the PDF using the Notes app instead of the Files app: Add photos, videos, and more to notes on iPhone - Apple Support

Add info from another app to a note

You can add information from another app as an attachment to a note—for example, a location in Maps, a webpage in Safari, a PDF in Files, or a screenshot.

1. In the other app, open the item you want to share (for example, a map or webpage).
2. Tap Share or the Share button, then tap Notes.
3. Save the item to a new note or choose an existing note.

You can then try using Markup to edit the PDF using your Apple Pencil.

Should the issue persist, what happens when you use the Files app without using Markup or the Apple Pencil? Does it function properly when you view files, etc.?

Let us know how it goes, take care.

Hi xlr8_tion,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with using Markup with your iPad Pro. We'd like to help.

Do you notice that this happens when using a specific app or is it device wide when using Markup? Is Markup set correctly for use on your device? Use Markup on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If it is set correctly, and the issue continues, this may help: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open - Apple Support

Let us know how that goes and we'll continue to help after that.
