Have you checked your mail accounts under Settings > Mail > Accounts to see if any details need to be updated?

Your illustrated photo shows your Mail Shelf - each thumbnail at the bottom of the screen represents an open Mail window/view. For each of the thumbnail blank thumbnail images that you can see, close each view by swipe each off the top of the screen.
When all the thumbnail views have been closed, force close the Mail App - then force-restart your iPad:
After restarting your iPad, you can re-open the Mail App.

Unfortunately, I don’t believe there’s a way to sync online accounts between Apple devices. You can provide feedback to Apple at https://apple.com/feedback.

Hmm. Maybe you could try deleting and reinstalling the Mail app?
Hold down the Mail app icon, tap Remove App, then Delete App.
Then, open the App Store and search for Apple Mail and reinstall it.

This is what I get. Been a problem for a long time !!
How do I “Force close” the Mail app?
Still nothing in iPad Inbox. Home Screen on iPad 9.7” PRO shows 272 unread messages.
iPhone 13 works fine

Maybe you have another solution for syncing her iPad email with her iPhone 13 email. She has to edit and delete separately on each device??
