My MacBook Pro does not connect to philips monitor c276 c8 via HDMI

My MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012) does not connect to Philips monitor c276 c8 via HDMI. Do I understand correct that it my laptop is too old and therefore incompatible? Would it work if I got an HDMi to USBC converter?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Your MacBook Pro retina 13-in 2012 model supports direct connection over its built-in HDMI port at up to 1920 by 1200, and using DisplayPort or ThunderBolt-2 or additional adapters, up to 2560 by 1600.

Your displays native resolution is 2560 by 1440, and it can connect via DisplayPort, HDMI, or USB-C.

>> This display should connect and work using a simple HDMI cord, but not at its top resolution.

¿Does it show any picture all all?
