I unable to create extended display on Imac 2017 and Macbook air 2020? I even tried with Thunderbolt but didn't work. on Add display it only shows the TV to be get connected.

To Airplay from your MacBook Air requires a 2019 or later iMac running Monterey.
It would be much cheaper just to purchase an inexpensive monitor for your MacBook Air.
I have 2017 21.5 inch screen IMAC and Macbook air 2020 which both have MAcOS Monterey. I have to use extended display mode for study so bought another Macbook air 2020. What is the other option? Should I buy another desktop, cheap one for extended display?
