my phone was stolen while i was in Las Vegas and i had to wait a few days to get a new one. the theifs changed all my passwords to emails and mobile banking. they changed the trusted phone number on my apple id. after about 6 weeks the apple recovery finally went through. the weird thing is i only got back about 15 photos. my phone backed it self up every night so i know they were backed up. how can i find them and get them back ??
Have you tried restoring a different backup? If you were syncing photos with iCloud, have you signed into Settings/Your Name, then gone to iCloud, and turned on Photos syncing? The photos sync is extremely slow. It could take several days or more for the photos to sync.

Restoring from a backup erases all data currently on your device. Any data newer then when the backup was made will be erased. A restore is an all or nothing restore. You can't access a backup to see the contents and only restore certain files.
