Apple Fitness data preservation while cancelling service temporarily: will my ring data & trends be there when I restart subscription?

Hi,

I need to cancel my Apple Fitness subscription for a few months. I intend to continue the membership via Apple One in the future. I will probably still have the same Apple Watch and iphone at that point, which I will continue using during this break from Apple Fitness, regardless:

  • Will my data (rings, results, day, week, monthly, trends) be lost? or
  • Can I (should I) save it (back it up) to icloud before? or will it be auto-backed up?

I want to assume that data will be stored, but I have heard upsetting stories about folks cancelling Apple Music for instance and losing all their playlists and other items in their libraries, months or years later when they signed up again. THIS QUESTION IS ABOUT DATA, valuable data (my move and exercise rings progress through 6 months), kindly focus on that in your reply and instructions. Links help.

Thanks.

ps I am trying to classify this question correctly (per your system requirement to post a question) but your "choose a different topic" button currently (June 28, 2022) does not offer an Apple Fitness category ....so being about Apple Services and relating to data I am choosing icloud.com as category. I wish whoever is in charge of discussions.apple corrected this soon.

Apple Watch SE, watchOS 8

Hello MondoTechnoir,

If you cancel your Apple Fitness+ subscription, this will remove the access to the workout videos provided in the app. This will not erase any of your rings, badges or any workout related data.

Apple Fitness+ supports 11 workout types, including: High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Yoga, Core, Pilates, Strength, Treadmill (Walk or Run), Cycling, Rowing, Dance, and Mindful Cooldown.
