What does this mean? - my HP Officejet Pro 8620 will no longer scan (using a wireless connection to my MacBook Pro)

Thanks.

I've tried removing and re-installing may HP printers several times. I have no problem with PRINTING using the wireless connection, which has been in use for several years, along with SCANNING. The recent problem has simply been with SCANNING - which developed last November and I could find no way around. In desperation late yesterday I went to HP and dowloaded a (free) application called 'HP Smart' which does magically allow me now to SCAN!! It opens the same print/scan dialogue box (as if I'd gone in via System Preferences/Printers and Scanners) and I proceed as normal from there. My PRINTING using the wireless connection has continued unchanged via System Preferences.

Thanks for the ideas, everyone, but HP Smart seems to have sorted my problem.

I have never been able to get my HP Officejet Pro 8620 to print/scan wirelessly....however a cable connection always works for me. This goes back including Monterey, Big Sur, Catalina, and Mojave(?)

You can try—

If it is listed as AirPrint printer, delete the existing printer in

> System Preferences> Printers & Scanners, and add it again, select AirPrint.
