Kindle app keeps crashing on my iPad
Update 6.61 seems to have made the app unstable.
The page loads then crashes.
Again and again.
Which is quite irritating
Running IOS 15.5

I was able to solve my crashing by deleting the app. Luckily I was able to backup the books not sourced from Amazon in my hard disk when it bought a new IPad. The books from Amazon are still there when you reload the app. But it sucks as reloading took a while.
the app so far hasn’t crashed anymore when before deleting, like you, I couldn’t even open it as it just goes back to home screen
That stinks! A couple of things to try maybe… Are you sure you've quit the app using the app switcher view? Try quitting all apps and doing the two button reboot of your device, then turning on Airplane Mode before launching the Kindle app. (How much memory is available on your device? Do you know how to check?)
Status update on my iPhone Kindle app: I launched the app (not in Airplane Mode) and just let it sit in the Kindle 'Home' screen. You could see the network traffic spinning daisy pinwheel as it was presumably syncing. It may have taken a couple times of this, but now it’s okay! Yay! (I wonder if people who only use the app on one device have this much trouble. Maybe a faster Wi-Fi connection would help.)
I am using iOs15.5 on my iPad. I updated the kindle app on both my iPhone and on the iPad on the same day. Subsequently, the Kindle app then started crashing on both my iPhone and my iPad upon every attempt to open it. It’s not a problem with the devices, it’s a problem with the Kindle app. I have a rather large Kindle library and it is very highly annoying, because it is taking a very long time for Amazon to rectify this problem. Why not just role the app back back to the previous version? Is that possible? Over the years, I have seen updates on computers and software create all sorts of problems. This is among the most annoying. As it is said, If it’s not broken, then why fix it? I am referring to the update, with that idiom. However, in this case, why are they incapable of fixing it in reasonable time? Amazon has deep pockets; it is a very big corporation, surely they are capable of prioritizing this problem or hiring some help. It’s getting to be several weeks now; in that span they have issued only one Kindle update and it didn’t fix the problem. Normally, they are updating the app more frequently than that.
Check at the Amazon site, under Your Account: Content & Devices, View: All Content and see if your other books and documents aren’t there. If they are, then you can download them later, no backup required! I have several PDFs that I have emailed to my Kindle app that are there on my account.
Had this issue for six months as well. Finally called customer service (on the phone for 20 min, went through all the standard troubleshooting and ended up filing a trouble ticket). I sense this is an issue of Amazon needing to debug the app according to iOS updates. And I too have invested a lot over the years and assumed I’d be able to access all these books I’ve purchased without issues.
I suggest anyone else who has this issue call Amazon customer service as well until the problem becomes painful enough that they fix it. They certainly have the resources to do so quickly once it’s a priority.

It has certainly not that I am aware of. Does quitting the app, turning on Airplane Mode and the relaunching the Kindle app keep it from freezing for you?
Check the Kindle App Forum on Amazon for possible help.
Amazon have absolute control over their Kindle App; only they have the means to correct the problem, or to re-release an older version of their App via the Apple App Store.
The Kindle App is not an Apple product. Amazon needs to update the Kindle App to work with Apple updates.
I have to delete and then download the Kindle app every day. This is crazy. It worked better 6 years ago.
Yes, I’m running iPadOS 15.5.
Kindle app was working perfectly until I updated it this morning.
Now it just crashes.
I turned the iPad off, restarted it and it actually brought the page up on screen for a few seconds before crashing but now it has gone back to crashing right after the page appears.
I was tempted to install 6.63 after I saw your post (I hadn’t gotten a notification badge yet from the App Store), but then I saw the What's New note. It says "Deleting your Amazon account now supported under Settings." Woo hoo. It says zip, nada about the freezing bug, and since turning on Airplane Mode before I launch the Kindle app still lets me read what I've already downloaded, I’m not going to risk the update since you said it still freezes in Airplane Mode for you. (You are turning on Airplane Mode *before* you launch the Kindle app, right?)
version 6.64.0.100
No ETA for a fix, according to Amazon who are ‘aware of the problem’.
I expect everyone working from home has increased the time it takes to sort things, no-one to bounce ideas off etc etc.
Or, could I be maligning them unfairly?
I mean they obviously have strict quality controls in effect which is why they never issue an update that crashes your app…
Oh… hang on…

Properly useless answer. True but no help.
What else can we say? We're not Apple or Amazon, and have no more sway in the issue than you do. If Amazon is aware of the problem, they may or may not fix it. Either way, we can't help.
