Files does not work

Hello I paid for your storage and moved my files there, but now I see that all the documents I needed for my work can not be opened in the iCloud but they worked just fine, when I had them on my computer, this way I lost all the work!!! How is it possible, I don't trust your storage anymore!!! Thank you
