I have an older MacBook Air (running Maverick OSX 10.9.5) laptop that i still use for work. The onboard mail app doesn't work any longer for any of my email accounts (gmail, aol, etc.).
My question is...
i'm wondering if there is another app that i could get that will be able to work on the OS? All that i see can't run on my older system.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thunderbird, but what's up with your mail app? An upgrade may fix it if one is available.
El Capitan for instance, but its depends on the year of your Mac ... what year is it?
Mail not working as expected might be the price of not upgrading.
Generally upgrading is not that big a hassle especially since your old Mac is likely 32 bit OS-wise and cannot go to a 64 bit OS anyway. Old apps will like continue to work. Not to even mention the enhanced security of a later browser.
But, It's your property ... try Thunderbird. It was written initially when old operating systems ruled.
Well, you could access your email account(s) by using a browser and going to your account on their website. It's not streamlined, but should work.
The roadblock is the old OS - if yours can run Sierra (10.12) or High Sierra (10.13), it would help. I also have some older (expensive) applications, so I can boot into 10.12 and use them with that. That's the last OS which lets them run reliably; 10.13 works with some, but not all.

I don't want to update this particular mac since i'm running other older apps.
Right, this is what i've been doing. Was hoping there might be some other option.
