Hi spjm1941,

We're happy to assist you with your email folders. First, can you tell us what provider is your email account with? If it is not with iCloud, then have you checked the email provider's website for the email account to see if it shows the same?

Does the issue still occur after restarting your iPad using the steps here: Restart your iPad

Best regards

Your suggestion led to a solution. The email provider junk mail folder had far more than the Apple junk mail total reported. I deleted providers junk mail. The Apple junk mail total is now 0, same as providers. It seems that I could eliminate the provider's email (Att yahoo mail) and just use Apple email assuming basic features are the same. Why maintain two emails if not required by Apple? Your thoughts? Thanks for the hint.

To your supplementary question, having two or more email addresses can be very useful - if not actually highly recommended…

If email service is not available via one provider - perhaps due to a service outage - you will still be able to communicate using your other email address(es).

Similarly, you may need to set-up a “recovery” email address for your email account(s); if your email account becomes locked-out (perhaps due to use of an incorrect password), account recovery or reset may require an email (with reset instructions) to be sent to a different email address. To maintain account security, recovery email addresses can only be configured prior to an account lockout - not after.
