"My WiFi button is grey, I can’t turn it on. I’ve tried to reset network settings but it still doesn’t work. Because of this problem, I can’t back up my iPhone (you need WiFi to do so) Help!: How do I fix it without getting a new iPhone?"
-------
If Wi-Fi is Greyed-Out:
Try the Following in the Order Provided:
A. Restarting the iPhone:
If any changes were made (i.e. Installed Apps), then Settings (i.e Wf-Fi), may have become manipulated technically. So, try restarting the iPhone:
- Go To: Settings
- Tap: General
- Tap: Shut Down
- Slide: Your Finger to the Right
B. Disable Cellular:
Try disabling Cellular, and using Wi-Fi instead, seeing if that makes all the difference.
C. Try manually restarting your iPhone:
- Go To: Settings
- Select: General
- Scroll to: the Very Bottom
- Select: Shut Down
- Slide Finger: to the Right
- Wait: 30 Seconds
- Power One: the iPhone
- Try this Once More
D. Update to: the latest version of iOS.
E. Reset All Network Settings to Default:
Example of items that will be reset: (Wi-Fi Passwords, VPN Connections, etc)
- Go To: Settings
- Tap: General
- Tap: Reset
- Tap: Reset Network Settings.
- Enter: [Your Passcode]
As a Last Resort:
F. Restore form a Backup:
Have a backup of your iPhone? If you are not concerned with losing data, then restore your iPhone from a backup that was made when Wi-Fi was working. Prior to restoring, backup your iPhone, incase anything goes wrong with the restoration.
