Hide my email forwarding is not working and I am not recieving important email

I have used Apple ID to create an app user hiding my email addy. Now I am not receiving any forwarded emails on the address. I have had this issue in the past as well. I went ahead and try to create a new email alias just to test if that would work and it did work. So if I create a manual alias under hide my email email forwarding works but if I use the app to random my create an email alias to hide my email, email forwarding does not work. I am awaiting a super critical email. Urgent help would be appreciated.
