Mail going to Junk instead of Inbox

How can I stop some of my mail from going to Junk/Trash instead of Inbox?

There are three reasons why an incoming message may be going directly to Junk:

  • there is a Rule that is being applied, in which case check your Rules (unlikely in this case)
  • Mail "thinks" this is junk mail - in which case, marking it as Not Junk, or moving it manually to the Inbox, may help Mail "learn"
  • the server has marked this as junk - in this case, there is little one can do
