Chinese dual physical SIM iPhones

Can these iPhone Chinese models (eg iPhone 13 Pro A2639 variant) use eSIM services when travelling outside China or are they only capable of using actual physical SIMS cards? Thank you.

In you case (iPhone 13 Pro) Yes, based on -> see this Apple article: Using Dual SIM with two nano-SIM cards

⤵️

If you have an iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation), or an iPhone XS in Hong Kong or Macao, learn how to use Dual SIM with an eSIM.

See -> Using Dual SIM with an eSIM – Apple Support (UK)

  • An eSIM is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a mobile data plan from your network provider without having to use a physical nano-SIM. With iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, you can use Dual SIM with either two active eSIMs or a nano-SIM and an eSIM. iPhone 12 models, iPhone 11 models, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR, feature Dual SIM with a nano-SIM and an eSIM

For sure: ask your carrier.

Thanks, but this does not answer the question (I have looked at the Apple pages). The first part is about iPhones in Hong Kong (not mainland China) and the second is talking about "normal" iPhone 13s that have a single SIM tray (such as in the UK, where you got the information). Mine is a very specific question about dual SIM tray iPhones sold in mainland China.

If only it were that straightforward! As they say, ask a question in China and get 100 answers. It is very hard to pin down exact and correct information on such matters. I am hoping somebody who has travelled from China using one of these phones can simply tell me whether they were able to use eSIM services of not. I think that is the only definitive way to be certain one way or the other. It is frustrating that none of the articles / web info I have found addresses this simple question. FWIW I think the answer is no, but I would like to be certain.
