PhotoBooth app is unable to record videos - M1 MacBook Air
Problem
Since early 2021, I have been having issues recording videos in my MacBook Air M1.
The problem was first noticed in Q2 of 2021 when I recorded a fairly long video, and it turned out to be just a freeze frame when I tried to open the clip. Since then, I had issues recording videos on the PhotoBooth app, it would record sometimes and sometimes won't. This was until 2022. Since 2022, I was unable to record a video on PhotoBooth at all. The countdown would start and it would just be a frame freeze.
What I have tried so far:
I have tried reinstalling MacOS. After a fresh install, first few days, it will record videos, but after a week or so, the issue persists. The only applications I install in my MacBook would be, VSCode, pyenv, Xcode build tools, Spotify, MS Teams, ExpressVPN. That is the most minimal install I have done on my Mac, I tried opening PhotoBooth app with everything else closed and it still does not work. I tried following some tutorials online like making a copy of PhotoBooth app and deleting the copy and opening etc. I tried opening in safe mode. I have even completely removed MacOS and installed fully fresh after erasing disk as well.
Note:
The performance and support of my MacBook Air M1 has being quite subpar. I believe, the M1 MBA, performs extremely well when there is no heavy work lord, however, it comes crashing down when there are maybe 20 tabs open and I try to code, with music on Spotify. This is basic expectations of a device.
All in all, I hope to have a good solution to fix my camera app at least.
