Cannot Update to macOS Monterey 12.5
Hi, I have macOS Monterey 12.2.1 and cannot update it to macOS Monterey 12.4 (now also not possible to update to 12.5). I have tried doing it in the safe mode, didn't help either.

More than one antivirus app - This computer has multiple antivirus apps installed.
Antivirus software: Apple, Avira, and ClamXAV
Uninstall Avira and ClamXAV. The built-in security is all that is required, and those others conflict with each other and system security, reduce performance and cause issues - they are the most likely cause for many of your current problems.
Effective defenses against malware and other threats
is a great post about keeping your mac secure.
Also: you are getting a tad low on free space. Not dangerously low, but something to keep an eye on.
It may be enough to use the mac, and to update to 12.5, but it wouldn't be enough free space for an upgrade, like the coming Ventura.
Your version of VirtualBox should probably updated, it is a bit behind.
Oh! Drat! Beyond the rest, you have remnants of... cleanmymac. That is poison.
You should really get rid of it completely.
In the end, you may need to do a clean install.
That tens to indicate some possible issues
1 the user has installed some software that is blocking the download
2 there is a very bad internet connection
3 the connection is behind a VPN which is interfering with the download

Hello all, thank you for your efforts.
I have done all you suggested. Now I have 72 GB of free space as well.
However, I still receive the cannot personalize the update error, and cannot update.
I have also added the latest etre report.
Thank you for the quick answer. I did download the 12.3.1 and cannot upgrade to that version either. Screenshot attached.
My Macbook was encrypted since the beginning. I turned FileVault off. Will try to update again. How long should I wait for the decryption?
canadiguzel$ fdesetup status -extended
FileVault is Off.
Volume is APFS. (FileVault Not Enabled)
Here is the return.
Hey guys, sorry but I have (hopefully) deleted every single trace of Avira (in safe mode). Then I got the same message updating to 12.3 and 12.5 in safe mode. I really don't have any other idea, what could I do? Attached is the latest Etra report.
This is the VPN that I have to use for work. And it's there already 1,5 years. I did however delete anything else but I cannot proceed with the update.
Interestingly, I
bought the exact same model 3 weeks ago, with nothing much installed, and receive the same update error. I attach the Etre Report from the new Macbook. Can that be the reason, as I have 2 identical Macbooks on the same network?
Thank you. I will definitely try that either.
However, I still don't understand why a brand-new Mac wouldn't update itself. The fact that, I have 2 identical MacBooks in the same network can really be the reason for this problem?
Hey, so I did have the backup and reinstalled MacOs in recovery mode. In the new Macbook, that worked. In the old Macbook however, I still get an error message. Then I wanted to install it again after deleting more files, as I have 72GB of storage, the reboot says that I have 31 GB free and need to clear up 9 more GB. The funny thing is I almost deleted everything I can. And the system data is somehow 125 GB.
Hello, 59 GB.
I have a second Macbook, exact same model, brand-new, used it for the first time last week and that one couldn't update itself either.
Done! Thanks in advance.
Good suggestion from @Luis S - worth a try
Maybe a dummy question but before the macOS Recovery, should I create a backup?
For Sure before.
Sorry, should have suggested that, but I take this to be a Standard Procedure - for me.
