Camera Remote App does not open and disappeared from App list

Hello everybody,

I will be very thankful if somebody could help with this issue.

I've an Apple Watch 7 TItanium 45 mm updated to watchOS 8.7 (19U66) paired with my iphone 13 pro max with iOS 15.6 (19G71).

It's about 2 months that I've noticed that the camera remote App on the AW does not appear in the app list and searching it in the AW app store it appears with the clickable button "open" but clicking on it does not produce any effect.

Trying asking Siri to open camera app I've got the answer: "I could not open Camera, Sorry".

what I've tried so far:

  • force restart AW and Iphone
  • unpair AW and pair back
  • erase AW (reset to factory settings) from AW settings, with combination keys and from watch app on iphone with or without restoring the AW backup
  • update to last watchOS and iOS
  • erase AW and reinstall watch app on iphone

Can you please give me your feedback if any of you are experiencing the same issue and how did you solve it?

I could not find a way to force uninstall camera remote app in order to reinstall it, nor in AW app store nor with long press on app list (camera remote does not show up in the list in both grid and list mode)

Do you know any other way to remove it?

Camera remote is not present in AW control center neither and cannot be added because does not show up clicking on modify.

Trying to add camera remote shortcut as a face widget it show up as a choice for some AW faces but when selected does not show up in the actual AW face and coming back in the AW face widget settings the widget set as camera remote has been reset by itself to "nothing".

Thank you in advance for your help!

Thank you for your reply, Yes I've screentime enabled on my iphone. Just tried to disabled it and... dada.. camera remote back working and showing up on AW app list.

It was a long shot and honestly I still cannot understand what is the option in screentime that was triggering this behaviour.

I had no app, content or limitations of sort enabled..

do you have any idea what could have been?

I was going crazy and you gave my the right hint!

Thank you so much fieryjack!!

Hello fieryjack,

Thank you for your quick reply.

As I wrote I've already reset and setup as new without restoring backup and I've done multiple times in every possible way:

  • from AW settings/general/erase/content and settings
  • from watch app on iphone
  • by long press digital crone and select button togheter and then erase

Setup as new -> same issue -> camera remote app does not show up in app list and does not open by clicking open button in AW app store.

Can you confirm me that your camera remote app is working fine?

Do you have any other suggestion?

Thank you for your kind reply!

Yes my camera remote is working,if it says open in the app store that usually means it's on the watch somewhere.

Do you have screentime enabled on your phone?.
