IOS 15.6 - iphone 7+ 2x camera only works in some modes

I noticed in 15.5, that my 2x camera only works in pano, portrait, slow-mo, and time-lapse modes. (Tested by covering each lens in each mode.). Since it works in some modes, I'm ruling out a hardware issue with the camera. I've tried all the commonly posted solutions (killing all apps, power cycling, and even upgraded to latest versionn 15.6). Still no fix. Is this a known problem with IOS? Any fix?

sjzack ~ It's relevant in two possible ways:

  1. An original battery weakened from age & use can cause a variety of strange symptoms – including a malfunctioning camera.
  2. A new battery put in by an unqualified technician using a non-genuine iPhone battery can cause a variety of strange symptoms – including a malfunctioning camera.

...So was the battery replaced by a qualified technician using a genuine iPhone battery?...

IDK - it was a battery shop. Haven't observed any other ill effects. And only observed camera issues since 15.5 upgrade. Gotta say, this sounds like a way to dismiss the issue for someone with an older phone. Disappointing. 2nd disappointing event from Apple after my butterfly keyboard failure. I've been a diehard apple fan up to now. But they're starting to lose their shine for me.
