Problem with external HD

How do I change Mount Point (read-only) on my external hard drive?

You don’t change the mount point.

Is the problem being read only?

If your drive is formatted as NTFS it will always be mounted read only unless you install third party software.

If you want to use the drive with both mac and windows machines, reformat it as ExFAT. Formatting erases everything in the drive so if you already have data in it, copy it somewhere else before formatting.

If the drive is to be used solely with macs, reformat as Mac OS Extended or APFS.
