Strange Disk Space Issue

Very strange disk space situation.

1TB SSD drive on iMac 27 inch Late 2019

The following stats show up when I use Get Info inside of Disk Utility.

-----------------------------------------------------

The following information shows up when I use standard Get Info From Finder

-------------------------------------------------

As you can see, the Disk Utility info shows about 13.37GM of available space. The Finder Get Info show (correctly) about 480.67GM of available space.

The issue is that I am trying to reinstall Monterrey via Internet Recovery Mode and it fails noting that only 13.37GB of space is available and that is not enough. The Monterrey install fails.

I cannot find any way to release the pursuable space, and have following all Apple suggestions. Deleting trash, etc. Bottom line is that I am only using about 1/2 of the SSD drive space.

There are likely some other problems as I have had several apps crashing lately and got a message about "Hash Mismatch detected."

Anyone have any ideas here. I can reformat the SSD disk and reinstall but that is a lot of work I would like to avoid. It is possible that I have a hardware problem.

Thanks for any thoughts.

So I did indeed take my computer to the Apple Store for a detailed hardware test.

The tech had not seen the term Hash Mismatch, but agreed to do the test.

Ultimately, they reported that my RAM had a problem.

So am waiting replacement of my 32GB Ram hoping that will solve the problem.

Just for the record, my computer is a 2019 iMac 27 with 1TB SSD and 32GB ram.

The below may or may not directly related to error " "Hash Mismatch detected."

AFAIK - the only way for this to be truly determined is by an Over Night Stress Test performed by an Apple Authorized Service Centre or an Apple Genius Bar

If going this route - suggest quoting the " "Hash Mismatch detected." to the Service Centre Tech Person

Please help - Terminal.app keeps crashing upon reopening - macoS Monterey version 12.4

To compare, used to have a late 2012 iMac with Rotational Drive maxed to Catalina. Struggling at that level.

Off loaded as Trade In for maybe $175 versus M1 Mac Mini Apple Silicon.

Was thinking longer term and to keep current on newer versions of macOS.
