White border around photos in finder

Hi every time I open finder to view photos in gallery or icon view there is a white border surrounding the images in jpeg or raw making them smaller and harder to see. This only started happening recently, there used to be no white border. Please see pic attached.

Cutout Photos - Background White vs Black Can not figure out why some cutout photos save with the white background and others save with the black background? Only the ones with the black background. (when opened in the photos app are actually cut out.) Here are some pics. I chose 4 random pics and cut out the image and using the share menu I saved them. When opened in the photos app two have a white background and two have the black background. When used in any other apps, messages, mail, photoshop, etc., only the ones with the black background are actually cut out. See overlayed pictures. Anyone know why it does this with some photos and not others?

Photos App - Images randomly change size when viewing This is a reply to a post from Brightfall in 2022. If you read this Brightfall please contact me. I do have EXACT the same problem like you on the exact same problem and also in Monterey. I was unable to fix this and I wonder if your problem still exists. Please let me know - thanks. Here is the problem: I have an album of photos, more than 40 images, all almost identical size 2048h x 1448w or within a few pixels. When I scroll though the images to view each one, the images do not all appear the same size. Some will appear to fill the window as normal, but some will appear about half size. I can then scroll backward through the same images and get a different result, where some that were appearing smaller now appear to fill the window, and vice versa. It seems to be random whether the image will be shown to fill the window or not. This also occurs when Photos is maximised. I am not using a slideshow this is just a regular album where I double-click one image and then use the arrow keys to move around. I am using a 16 inch MBP M1 Max on Monterey 12.3.

We can't get rid of the border. It's coded into the System/Finder. You can tell Apple what missing features you'd like restored or new features added to the system via Feedback - macOS - Apple.

Finder -> View Menu -> Show Status Bar

Now note the the Slider at the bottom right of the window. You can increase the size of the icons there:
