Wife and my contacts are synched

My wife's contacts from her iPhone keep showing up on my iPhone, when I remove them from my phone they also are removed from my wife's. We both have separate Apple ID's and use them to log onto iCloud. In iCloud settings Contacts is toggled off on both our phones, I also have an iMac and contacts do not sync between my iPhone and the Mac. I've read through most of the discussions and haven't been able to resolve the issue (most say to use different Apple ID's for iCloud and iTunes which we already do). I've also turned off family sharing and that hasn't worked either. Any ideas? Thanks.
